Anastasia Zabaniotou is emeritus professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She holds a PhD and Master from Ecole Centrale de Paris, France. She works as an expert with the European Commission in Brussels. She was the elect-president of the Mediterranean Engineering and Management Schools Network (RMEIM) of the Ecole Centrale Marseille, France (2022-2024). She chairs biomass and bioenergy at the International Renewable Energy Network and Conference (WREN). Her research activities are on Bioenergy, Waste2Resources, Circular Economy and Bioeconomy, Gender Equality in higher education and Sustainable Development. She is included in the list of the TOP 2% most cited scientists globally, published by Stanford University for the years 2019-2024. Her research team has been awarded 15 times for excellence and innovation. In 2024 she is awarded by the French Republic with the medal “Chevalier de l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques’
