Professor Choi holds the Anderson Endowed Chair in Engineering Innovation at the University
of Dayton, Ohio, USA. He is affiliated with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace
Engineering and the Renewable and Clean Energy Graduate Program. His primary focus is on
sustainable design and manufacturing, energy and resource efficiency, life cycle management,
circular economy strategies, and macroeconomic modeling for energy and environmental
policies. He holds the role of director at the University of Dayton Industrial Assessment Center
(UD-IAC), which is supported by funding from the U.S. Department of Energy.
Prior to his current position, Professor Choi worked as the scientific staff of the Sustainable
Energy Technology Division at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National
Laboratory. He also served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Resilience at Ohio State
University. Professor Choi received his Ph.D from Purdue University and master’s degree at the
University of Michigan both in Mechanical Engineering. Throughout his career, he has managed
research projects totaling $9 million as a Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI and has published
across diverse fields of study.
