Prof.Viresh Dutta did his Ph. D. from I.I.T. Delhi in 1978 and joined Centre for Energy Studies faculty in 1980 becoming Professor in 2002. From 2015 to 2019 he was Head of CES which is now Department of Energy Science and Engineering. Since 2019 Prof. Dutta is Emeritus Professor in DESE. His research interests are in the areas of Thin Film Science and Technology, Solar Photovoltaics, Semiconductor nanoparticles and Embedded systems. He has expertise in different thin film deposition processes and characterization techniques. He has worked extensively on Cadmium Telluride based thin film solar cells using Spray deposition facility for deposition of Semiconductor thin films. Several novel ideas have been incorporated in the spray deposition technique in order to achieve improvements in the film properties and development of nanoparticle fabrication by CoSP technique. Prof. Dutta has worked on photovoltaic systems design and associated circuitry including a microcontroller based two axis tracking controller, DC- DC converters etc. He is also involved in the performance evaluation of large PV systems in IIT and other parts in the country. His research interests alsocover the areas: use of Nanocrystalline materials for Solar Cells, Organic & Perovskite Solar Cells and Photovoltaic Instrumentation. Prof. Dutta has worked on several national and international projects.
