Dr. Sabeera Haris is a passionate and innovative researcher in the field of bioprocess engineering, with a strong emphasis on converting waste into high-value, sustainable products. With dual PhDs in Chemical Engineering and Water Resources Engineering, her interdisciplinary expertise spans biomass valorization, fermentation technology, and life cycle assessment. Dr. Haris has developed novel bioprocesses using agricultural residues like date fruit pomace, producing lactic acid, biodegradable composites, and functional adsorbents for environmental applications. Her research has led to multiple international publications and two U.S. patents and has successfully transitioned research from lab to pilot-scale commercialization. She has represented her research on global stages, and has received multiple prestigious awards at the 10th International Conference on Engineering for Waste & Biomass Valorization (Sendai, Japan), 37th Symposium on Biotechnology for Fuels & Chemicals (San Diego, USA), and UAE Engineering Challenge organized by Elsevier. She is also a two-time recipient of the Chancellor Innovation Award from UAE University, in the Renewable Energy and Water Resources categories. Currently an Assistant Professor at Abu Dhabi University, she combines her academic and industrial experience to inspire innovation in the bioeconomy and circular waste management sectors.
