Dr. Mohd Herwan Sulaiman obtained his B.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical- Electronics, M.Eng. in Electrical-Power, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2002, 2007, and 2012, respectively. He is currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electrical & Electronics Engineering Technology, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA). His primary research interests include power system optimization and the application of swarm intelligence techniques to power system and energy studies. He has authored and co-authored more than 210 technical papers in reputable international journals and conferences. Dr. Mohd Herwan is also an active reviewer for several high-impact journals in areas such as power systems, soft computing, and intelligent systems. He is one of the principal inventors of two novel nature-inspired optimization algorithms: the Barnacles Mating Optimizer (BMO) and the Evolutionary Mating Algorithm (EMA). In recognition of his contributions to research, he has been appointed as an Associate Editor for Franklin Open, a SCOPUS-indexed journal published by Elsevier. Dr. Mohd Herwan has been consistently recognized among the world’s Top 2% Scientists in the list of outstanding researchers across various fields and disciplines released by Stanford University for the years 2022, 2023, and 2024.
