Dr Jari Kaivo-oja is Research Director at the Finland Futures Research Centre, Turku School of Economics, University of Turku.Dr Jari Kaivo-oja is an Adjunct professor at the University of Helsinki (Planning and Management Sciences), at the University of Lapland (Foresight and Innovation Research), and the University of Vaasa (Technology Foresight, Knowledge Management and Applied Digitalisation Research). He is the ProfessorAtestatas of Social Sciences at the KazimieroSimonavičiaus University (KSU) in Vilnius, Lithuania. He is an expert in the fields of foresight methods and innovation research, technology foresight, energy economics, climate change policies, sustainability science, social system theory, digital transformation analysis, STI policy, and knowledge management in organisations. Hehasbroad experience in foresight, STI, and anticipation research in the European framework programs FP5—FP8 and at the Strategic Research Council of the Academy of Finland (2018-2023) and in corporate foresight and R&D projects. He has worked for the European Commission, the European Foundation, the Eurostat, the Nordic Innovation Centre (NIC), NATO, RAND Europe (Terra 2000), the European Parliament, Business Finland (Tekes), and corporations and ministries in Finland. In 2019-2021, Dr Kaivo-oja was the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Smart Specialization Strategy Tools with Big Data (SSST-BD) in the EXCELLENT SCIENCE - Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions program. He is currently a board member and reviewer of the Knowledge Management in Organisations (KMO Conferences), the International Conference of European Processes (Kaunas ICEP Conferences), the European Academy of Management (EURAM),and the Finland Futures Research Summer Conference (Futures of Technologies Conference 2025).
